Adult education and family literacy programs are essential components of robust, resilient communities that can respond to challenges with flexibility and creativity. These programs provide the foundational skills that adults and youth need in order to pursue further education and career opportunities; ensure physical, socio-emotional, and financial well-being for themselves and their families; and participate fully in community life.

As part of its mission to educate legislators, policymakers, and the general public about the pivotal role of adult education in strengthening communities, NCL follows current areas of concern and provides links to resources that illustrate both the challenges that adult education encounters and the solutions that it offers. These resources can be effective tools for advocacy at federal, state, and local levels.
